A Note From Uncle Somji
Ah... so you found me at last.
That tells me two things: you're wonderfully curious... and you're probably exactly the sort of person these dream cards have been waiting for.
My name is Uncle Somji, and I've spent most of my life wandering this marvelous world. I've crossed deserts, sailed oceans, climbed mountains, gotten gloriously lost more times than I can count, and laughed my way through places most people only dream about. The funny thing is, my greatest adventure didn't happen while I was awake.
It began in the 1970s (Kyoto, Japan) when I stumbled into the dustiest, oddest little magic shop you could ever imagine. The old keeper smiled as though he'd been waiting for me all along. Without a word, he placed fifteen curious cards into my hands and a smooth, polished Lucky Traveler's Stone that felt strangely warm.
"These aren't for your pockets," he whispered. "They're for your dreams."
From that night on, bedtime was never simply bedtime again. I could choose who would join my adventure, where in the world—or beyond it—I wished to wander, what marvelous mischief I'd get up to, and the remaining cards would weave the rest of the story into something even my imagination couldn't predict.
I've kept this delightful little secret for many years. After all, the very best magic is worth waiting for.
Now, I should probably mention something. The cards don't always behave exactly as they're supposed to. Some nights they're positively astonishing... and other nights, well, perhaps they've nodded off before you have. But I've discovered that the real magic isn't in whether the cards work every single time—it's in giving your imagination permission to wander somewhere wonderful. And if you wake up smiling, I'd call that a rather successful journey.
So now... I think it's your turn.
Take the cards. Hold the stone. Close your eyes.
Perhaps our paths will cross in a dream one night. If they do, tip your hat, say hello, and don't worry if I seem to know your name.
Dreams have a funny way of introducing old friends before they've properly met.
Happy Dreaming!
